Baseball NZ's National Tournaments Reshaped for Wider Participation, Development & Enjoyment.
The National Tournament Working Group's, review and recommendations are now endorsed by Baseball NZ and the Baseball NZ Board for implementation for 2024, 2025 and 2026 baseball seasons.
The key purpose for National Baseball Tournaments is for our community baseball participants; players, coaches, umpires, scorekeepers and volunteers to engage, develop and grow within the game of baseball throughout NZ.
National Baseball Tournament Guidelines - Overview:
- Club-based tournaments, with rules, regulations, and competition formats to support the growth of club baseball teams, enjoyment and an appropriate level of competition.
- Two National Tournaments per year to be hosted in the upper North Island with at least one of these tournaments held in Auckland.
- Minimum of one National Tournament hosted in the South Island per year
- Minimum of one National Tournament hosted in regions to support the development and growth of the regions.
- All teams attending National Tournaments will have a requirement to provide and bring one umpire and one scorekeeper with the appropriate level of training.
- For 2024 only, all National Tournaments are to be held in the upper North Island.
